The Air-Tite Advantage - Dare to Compare

Air-Tite's commitment to superior materials and exemplary workmanship results in the highest quality Garage Storage solutions for your needs. The following point-by-point comparison describes how Air-Tite ensures long-lasting performance and durability.

Air-Tite Quality Standards Common Industry Practice
Quality Material Commercial grade, high density 3/4" double-sided melamine board is used on ALL components Use thinner, lesser-grade material
Cabinet Backs Backs of all cabinets are made of 3/4" double-sided high-density melamine board Most use 1/4" material
Edge Construction All exposed edges are edge banded, even those not readily seen Only visible edges are banded
Edge Construction All door and drawer fronts have 2mm edge banding on all four sides 1/2mm edge banding on door and drawer fronts
Drawer Construction All drawer boxes and fronts are constructed of commercial grade, high density 3/4" double-sided melamine board Most use 1/4" material in drawer box construction
Drawer Guides Heavy-duty, ribbed, epoxy-coated Metabox self-closing drawer guides User lower quality guides
Drawer Stops
Metabox drawer guides have Positive Stops mounted to the back of the drawer box. When drawer is shut, drawer box is pushed together rather than being pulled apart. Drawer front itself serves as drawer stop, pulling drawer front away from drawer box each time drawer is shut. Can eventually lead to separation of drawer front from drawer box.
Drawer Liners All drawers include full foam liners to help keep items in drawers from shifting during opening and closing Not offered
Door/Drawer Pulls All doors and drawers come with the option of a 3/8" satin finish pull or our own Air-Tite Full Length Aluminum Pull. If you prefer, a combination of both may be used. Our designer Full Pulls are available only from Air-Tite. Not only attractive and functional, they help keep doors and drawers in alignment.
Door Hinges
Metal, nickel-plated commercial hinges are fully routed into doors for a secure fit and reliable door function Lower quality hinges used
Hinge Adjustment Special adjustment screws allow for precise fine-tuning in all three directions, but will not permit over-adjustment Less adjustment range on lower quality hinges
Cabinet Shelves All adjustable shelves on FACELESS cabinets (no doors or drawers) are routed for shelf pins. Like in our closet organizers, this holds shelves in place keeping them from sliding and possibly falling out. Shelves in FACED cabinets do not need to be routed for shelf pins because the cabinet door and back keeps shelves from sliding all the way out. Not offered
Cabinet Legs Cabinet legs are constructed of zinc-plated steel and fully adjustable from 4" to 6" with nylon protector caps. Legs are strategically positioned under the sides of the base cabinets in order to more efficiently distribute weight. Smaller range of adjustment. Less substantial construction design
Weight Distribution Cabinets are designed and constructed to provide maximum strength, stability and weight distribution. Tops and bottoms of cabinets overlap sides to best distribute weight of stored items. Lesser construction design can result in cabinet bottoms and shelving bowing or blowing-out from the weight of stored items, especially in wall cabinets
Precision Installation All cabinets are machined with special alignment holes using our computer-controlled boring machine. These holes ensure the proper alignment of side-by-side cabinets. Most companies rely on the installers to manually align cabinets at installation
Alignment Bolts Specialized connecting bolts have a ribbed female connector to act as an anchor or compression fit inside the alignment hole. This ensures proper alignment, helps with weight distribution, and improves the overall strength of the cabinet system. Common practice is for installers to screw cabinets together, losing the added benefit of superior weight distribution and strength gained from anchor bolts and compression fit
Cabinet Base All base cabinets have the option of a waterproof adjustable vinyl base, eliminating the need to clean under cabinets Not offered
Slotwall Design Air-Tite slotwall has a beaded profile for a more attractive appearance. It is available in both a smooth and an embossed wood grain surface. Both are UV-resistant against fading and yellowing from exposure to the sun. Also, our slotwall has an added bottom lip in its profile which helps keep slot wall accessories from falling out. Comparable product is unavailable
Slotwall Installation Air-Tite slotwall is unique in its installation. A specially-designed slotwall bracket is mounted directly to the wall studs and "snaps" into the back of the slotwall. No screws are used, thus maintaining an unmarred exterior. Drill directly into the face of the slotwall when mounting it to the wall
